At the end of the 10.30am Sung Eucharist on Sunday 5th October, the congregation and choir bid farewell to Helen Woods, Choir Trainer at St Wilfrid’s. Helen has served as Choir Trainer for 17 years and will be sadly missed. During the service, the Anthem was ‘O Christ who holds the gate open’ which was written by Helen’s father which gave the service a personal touch. Matthew Hoff, a member of the Choir led the intercessions and gave thanks for Helen’s ministry and prayed for James Kirkpatrick is to succeed Helen. Helen began her work with the Choir on a temporary 6 month basis 17 years ago and has stayed ever since. Helen has worked with Rex Latter, the Organist to develop the choral tradition at the heart of the Church. Although stepping down as Director of Music, Helen will be continuing to sing occasionally in the Choir. After the service, Father Andrew led tributes to thank Helen for her ministry. A copy of which will be available in due course. Jean Rose on behalf of the congregation presented Helen with flowers.
Thanks Helen and God bless in the future!
