Elizabeth Corner is a graduate teacher and also has a certificate in Education (Class 1) from the University of Oxford. In addition she has a certificate in Theology from Exeter University. She has taught in state schools in the private sector and in residential communities for disturbed and delinquent children. After retiring through ill-health she worked as a volunteer with the homeless in Oxford for the Probation Service and then, for three years, at the Helen House Hospice for children.

In 2005 she became a Licensed Reader to the Archdeacon of Exeter with responsibility for leading Quiet Days and Weekend Retreats.

In Parish life she was a Churchwarden for seven years. She has also been a member of the Deanery Synod and was elected to the Diocesan Synod in Exeter until she moved to Somerset. She is currently Spiritual Director for Exeter Diocese and works in the Chaplaincy of Exeter Prison.

Under her maiden name of Elizabeth Rapp she is also a published poet.
